Do you love local history? Are you comfortable with a camera, a scanner, or a database? ASMAS is looking for a motivated student to spend the summer helping us preserve the story of Armstrong and Spallumcheen — and we want to hear from you.
About ASMAS
For over 50 years, the Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Art Gallery has been the keeper of this community’s memory. Run largely by dedicated volunteers, our team maintains a rich collection of archival materials, photographs, documents, and artefacts that tell the story of the people who built this valley.
This summer, we have an opportunity for a student to join that team — and make a real, lasting contribution.
📷 A Hopeful Focus on Photo Archives
ASMAS holds an extensive collection of historical photographs spanning more than a century of life in Armstrong and Spallumcheen. Many of these images have never been digitized — they exist only as fragile prints, glass negatives, and fading paper. The ideal summer assistant would play a central role in scanning, cataloguing, and preserving these photographs so that future generations can access them. It’s painstaking, rewarding work, and the results will outlast all of us.
